I <3 June Yoga in the Park
Grateful for these lovely people.
I’m offering early morning outdoor yoga classes in a neighborhood park. The process is both a spontaneous heart-inspired experiment and a practical re-creating of my COVID-impacted teaching career.
Numerous unexpected gifts from June Yoga in the Park are recognized, received and deeply appreciated.
I’ve enjoyed a lovely pre-dawn ritual of anticipatory preparation without expectation. I allow myself to be surprised and delighted by who shows up: an eclectic mix of newly-met neighbors and former students.
Folks who arrive for a 6 AM yoga class have a refreshing, up-for-it attitude. Several people saw my strategically-posted flyers around the neighborhood and decided to try something new with someone they’ve never met. I hope their experience only expands their openness and confidence.
Early mornings are still comfortable, a respite from the intensity of summertime desert heat. Gathering outdoors reminds us that what we love about being “outside” is also present “inside” of us.
Dawn’s quiet stillness amplifies Nature’s soundtrack of cooing Mourning Doves and boisterous Peach-Faced Love Birds. Simple pleasures are treasured: the pure joy of bare feet in damp grass and deliberate movement synced with the rhythm of the breath.
We practice in tandem with the quickening morning light and the sacred promise of a new day.
